❃ The Indian moon moth (Actias selene) is a spectacular silk moth found across parts of South and Southeast Asia. Its pale green wings, delicate pinkish markings, crescent-shaped eyespots, and exceptionally long hindwing tails give it an almost otherworldly appearance. With a wingspan that can exceed 6 inches (15 centimeters), this nocturnal beauty is one of the most striking members of the giant silk moth family.

❃ Like other giant silk moths, the adult Indian moon moth has only a brief time to find a mate and reproduce. Adults have reduced mouthparts and do not feed, instead surviving on energy stored during their caterpillar stage. Males use their broad, feathery antennae to detect chemical signals released by females, helping them locate a potential mate through the darkness.

❃ Before becoming an elegant green moth, Actias selene begins life as a caterpillar feeding on the leaves of various trees and shrubs. When fully grown, it spins a silken cocoon and undergoes its remarkable transformation. From hungry caterpillar to luminous night flyer, the Indian moon moth is a beautiful example of the dramatic metamorphosis hidden within the insect world.

3. Let it breathe. Most plush regain their full shape within 1–3 days, while larger or denser designs can take up to a week.

4. Smooth any flattened or creased fur with your fingers or a soft brush as it fluffs back up.

5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.
