❃ Arandaspis (Arandaspis prionotolepis) is an extinct genus of primitive, jawless fish that swam in the shallow, tropical coastal waters of the Larapinta Seaway—now modern-day Australia—during the Ordovician period, roughly 480 million years ago. Measuring around six inches in length, this prehistoric creature represents one of the oldest and most intact vertebrate lineages ever discovered in the fossil record.
❃ Predating modern jawed fishes and flexible shark skeletons by tens of millions of years, Arandaspis was encased in a protective external armor made of hard, bony plates. Its forward head shield consisted of an arched dorsal plate and a rounded ventral plate composed of aspidin, an ancient form of bone. Lacking paired fins, true jaws, and a fully developed bony internal skeleton, it relied on a flexible, paddle-like tail fin and a series of gill openings along its body to propel itself through ancient waters.
❃ With a downward-facing, jawless opening flanked by small movable plates, Arandaspis was likely a gentle filter feeder or benthic scavenger, scooping up organic debris and microorganisms from the muddy ocean floor. Its primitive yet sturdy construction provided crucial protection against large invertebrate predators like early nautiloids and sea scorpions. Ancient, armored, and deeply rooted in vertebrate evolution, Arandaspis is a fascinating glimpse into the dawn of ocean life.

3. Let it breathe. Most plush regain their full shape within 1–3 days, while larger or denser designs can take up to a week.
4. Smooth any flattened or creased fur with your fingers or a soft brush as it fluffs back up.
5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.
