THE ARMORED TITAN
❃ Long before dinosaurs walked the Earth, Dunkleosteus ruled the seas of the Late Devonian period roughly 360 million years ago. This extraordinary armored fish belonged to an extinct group known as placoderms and carried a massive shield of interlocking bony plates around its head and upper body. One of the largest predators of its environment, Dunkleosteus occupied the top of an ancient marine food web filled with early sharks, armored fish, and other strange inhabitants of the Devonian oceans.
❃ Instead of conventional teeth, Dunkleosteus possessed sharpened bony jaw plates that formed enormous cutting edges. As its jaws opened and closed, these plates acted almost like self-sharpening blades, allowing the predator to seize and slice through heavily armored prey. Scientists studying its skull mechanics have found evidence of an exceptionally powerful bite, making its formidable jaws one of the most remarkable feeding adaptations of any prehistoric fish.
❃ Much about Dunkleosteus remains mysterious because fossils preserve its heavily armored head far better than the softer parts of its body. Modern research has even challenged older estimates that portrayed it as a 30-foot giant, suggesting some species may have been considerably shorter but much more compact and heavily built. With its armored skull, bladed jaws, and imposing presence, Dunkleosteus remains one of the most unforgettable predators from the Age of Fishes.

When It Arrives
When It Arrives
Your plush travels inside our satchel, and some designs may be vacuum-sealed to keep them protected and compact during their journey. Don’t worry if yours looks a little flattened when first unpacked — the filling is designed to bounce back and simply needs a little time and fluffing to take its full shape.
Bringing it back to form:
1. Remove it from the packaging as soon as it arrives — don’t leave it packed.
2. Give it a good fluff — gently knead the body and work the limbs, wings, ears, or tail to redistribute the filling.
3. Let it breathe. Most plush regain their full shape within 1–3 days, while larger or denser designs can take up to a week.
4. Smooth any flattened or creased fur with your fingers or a soft brush as it fluffs back up.
5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.
Plush make this journey every day and naturally bounce back after being unpacked. If yours still isn’t looking like itself after a week, write to us at support@mythicalwoods.com and we’ll make it right.
Care: Spot clean with mild soap. Air dry
