❃ The wreathed hornbill (Rhyticeros undulatus), also known as the bar-pouched wreathed hornbill, is a large, magnificent forest bird native to the primary evergreen rainforests spanning from Bhutan and Northeast India through Southeast Asia to the Sunda Islands. Reaching over three feet in length with broad, expansive wings, this striking canopy dweller features a dark body, a pure white tail, and an unfeathered, inflatable throat pouch that is bright yellow in males and vivid blue in females.
❃ The species earns its name from the distinctive corrugated ridges or "wreaths" layered across the base of its pale bill and low casque, with additional ridges developing as the bird matures. Lacking underwing coverts that muffle air passage, the wreathed hornbill produces a loud, rhythmic rushing sound with every wingbeat, echoing through the treetops like a steam engine. Its vivid throat sac acts as a visual signal across the dense foliage while allowing the bird to swallow large wild fruits whole.
❃ Essential to forest regeneration, wreathed hornbills are prolific seed dispersers that travel long distances each day across vast tracts of jungle in search of fruiting fig trees. During the breeding period, the female is sealed safely inside a tree hollow with a mud wall, relying entirely on the male to deliver nutritious fruits and small critters through a narrow opening until the chicks are ready to emerge. Nomadic, vocal, and visually spectacular, the wreathed hornbill is a true icon of Southeast Asia's ancient rainforests.

3. Let it breathe. Most plush regain their full shape within 1–3 days, while larger or denser designs can take up to a week.
4. Smooth any flattened or creased fur with your fingers or a soft brush as it fluffs back up.
5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.
