❃ Lophius americanus, comunemente noto come rana pescatrice americana o rana pescatrice, è una specie di rana pescatrice diffusa principalmente nell'Oceano Atlantico nord-occidentale, dai Grand Banks di Terranova a Capo Hatteras, nella Carolina del Nord. Abita acque profonde, in genere tra i 50 e i 2.000 metri di profondità, dove si nasconde sul fondale oceanico in attesa di prede.
