❃ Emerging from the ancient seas of the Paleozoic, Carcinosoma was a remarkable member of the eurypterids — the extinct arthropods commonly known as sea scorpions. Its broad, flattened body, powerful swimming paddle, spiny limbs, and distinctive tail gave it an unmistakably formidable appearance. Unlike modern scorpions, these creatures were aquatic, prowling ancient marine environments long before dinosaurs appeared.
❃ Built for life in the water, Carcinosoma possessed a large paddle-like sixth appendage for swimming and strong, spiny forward limbs for handling prey. Its broad central body narrowed into a segmented rear section ending in a distinctive tail structure. Fossil evidence suggests that Carcinosoma was more suited to moving near the seafloor than to being a fast, open-water swimmer, making it a fascinating predator of ancient marine ecosystems.
❃ Carcinosoma belongs to a lineage that flourished during the Paleozoic, particularly around the Silurian, when eurypterids became important members of marine communities. Fossils have been discovered in marine deposits alongside trilobites, brachiopods, bryozoans, starfish, and other ancient organisms. Today, its fossil remains offer a glimpse into an ocean inhabited by strange arthropods unlike anything alive in modern seas.

1. Remove it from the packaging as soon as it arrives — don’t leave it packed.
2. Give it a good fluff — gently knead the body and work the limbs, wings, ears, or tail to redistribute the filling.
3. Let it breathe. Most plush regain their full shape within 1–3 days, while larger or denser designs can take up to a week.
4. Smooth any flattened or creased fur with your fingers or a soft brush as it fluffs back up.
5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.
