The male, or drake, wears a glossy iridescent-green head and neck, a crisp white collar, chestnut breast, gray body, and bright yellow bill, while both sexes carry a distinctive blue-violet wing patch bordered in white. Females are more subtly colored, with mottled brown plumage that provides excellent camouflage among grasses and wetland vegetation.

They tip forward with their tails raised, using their broad bills to gather aquatic plants, seeds, insects, worms, snails, and other small invertebrates. 5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.
