❃ With its barrel-shaped body, short sturdy legs, blunt snout, and small rounded ears, the capybara is unmistakable—and remarkably relaxed-looking. The largest living rodent, it is built for a life split between grassy banks and warm freshwater, with partially webbed feet that make it an accomplished swimmer. Its coarse reddish-brown coat and broad, heavy body give it an almost oversized guinea-pig appearance.

❃ Capybaras are gentle herbivores, spending much of their time grazing on grasses and aquatic plants. Water is central to their daily lives: they wallow in shallow water to keep cool, swim to escape predators, and can remain mostly submerged with only their eyes, ears, and nostrils above the surface. Their continuously growing front teeth are perfectly suited to cropping tough vegetation.

❃ Across the wetlands, marshes, riverbanks, and seasonally flooded grasslands of South America, capybaras gather in sociable groups, often numbering around 10 to 20 animals. Their calm appearance hides a watchful nature, with group members alerting one another when danger approaches. When threatened, the herd can retreat swiftly into the water, where their swimming ability gives them a vital escape from predators such as jaguars, pumas, and caimans.

2. Give it a good fluff — gently knead the body and work the limbs, wings, ears, or tail to redistribute the filling.

3. Let it breathe. Most plush regain their full shape within 1–3 days, while larger or denser designs can take up to a week.

4. Smooth any flattened or creased fur with your fingers or a soft brush as it fluffs back up.

5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.
