❃ The honeycomb moray eel (Gymnothorax favagineus), also known as the laced moray, is a striking reef predator found throughout the Indo-Pacific. Its pale body is covered in an intricate network of dark spots and blotches that resemble the cells of a honeycomb. Growing to more than 6 feet (1.8 meters) in length, this impressive eel spends much of its time concealed among coral formations and rocky crevices, with only its patterned head emerging from its hiding place.

❃ Honeycomb morays are carnivorous hunters that feed primarily on fish and other marine animals. Their sharp teeth and powerful jaws help them seize slippery prey, while a remarkable second set of jaws hidden in the throat moves forward to help pull food into the digestive tract. This unusual feeding mechanism, known as pharyngeal jaws, allows moray eels to swallow prey without relying on the suction-feeding technique used by many other fish.

❃ Although a moray's constantly opening and closing mouth can look threatening, the movement primarily helps circulate water over its gills for breathing. Honeycomb morays rely heavily on their keen sense of smell to investigate their surroundings, particularly when hunting around the reef. 4. Smooth any flattened or creased fur with your fingers or a soft brush as it fluffs back up.

5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.
